Neil’s older brother, Mitch, clearly got all the buff genes in the family (or he’s what Neil will look like in a couple years). He’s a strapping six-footer with tattooed biceps and a fondness for all-season flip-flop wearing. Mitch is protective of his younger brother, although he has the big brother habit of pretending he isn’t. While Mitch might be clever enough to change the spark plugs on his beloved van, his brains wouldn’t be much of a meal for the zombies on the horizon.
Voiced by the very talented actor/director, Casey Affleck, the role of Mitch in ParaNorman is certainly one which exudes significantly more machismo than the characters of his previous feature films including; To Die For (Russell), Good Will Hunting (Morgan), 200 Cigarettes (Tom), Soul Survivors (Sean), Oceans 11/12/13 (Virgil), and The Killer Inside Me (Lou). Being the baby brother of actor/director/writer, Ben Affleck, didn’t overshadow Casey’s ability to make his own mark on Hollywood. His talent for creating characters with deep, brooding and introspective characters will certainly give Mitch an empathetic edge and make an animated character even more humanistic.
Check out ParaNorman in theaters this Friday, August 17 and stop back here tomorrow to continue our character discussion.
